The new ISS crew started from Baikonur on the Soyuz-FG rocket

The Soyuz-FG carrier rocket with the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-07 and a new crew was launched from Baikonur to work on the International Space Station (ISS), RIA Novosti reported.

On board the "Union" are the cosmonaut of "Roskosmos" Anton Shkaplerov, NASA astronaut Scott Tingle and astronaut JAXA Norishige Kanai.

The ISS crew will be entrusted with a number of important tasks. In February 2018, for example, Anton Shkaplerov and Alexander Misurkin, who is already on board the ISS, will have to work in open space - there they will have to replace the "Luch" satellite antenna array that has been operating for 17 years without a break. As a result of the modernization, the Russian segment of the ISS will have its own line of communication with the Earth, which will operate continuously. In addition, Russian cosmonauts will have the opportunity to use the Internet - now they have to enter it using NASA equipment, thus taking the channel of colleagues.

At the moment the ship has already separated from the carrier rocket. The docking will take place on December 19 at 11.42 Moscow time and will be held automatically. Docking with the ISS runs on a two-day scheme, - says Roskosmos.
