Today is a big day! Exactly 25 years ago, on August 23, 1991 the first users entered the World Wide Web (WWW). Since then, August 23 is celebrated as the birth of the Internet, and is also associated with the Day of the International.

Recall that the inventor of the World Wide Web is a computer expert Tim Berners-Lee of CERN. In just 25 years of its existence, the Internet has made a real revolution in all spheres of our life, changing our perception of how it is possible and necessary to work, and also to communicate with each other.

Berners-Lee, who is rightly called the father of the Internet, was the first to create a personal database of people and software models at CERN in the mid-1980s. To do this, he used a hypertext document structure, where each new digital page was linked to an existing one.

After this development in 1989, Berners-Lee proposed the implementation of a global hypertext project for more effective work of physicists around the world. Over the next year he wrote HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Uniform Resource Identifier (URL) and HyperText Markup Language (HTML), not to mention the first web browser, server and web pages.

In early August 1991, the first web page came online, and access to it can be obtained even now, using it the original URL . At that time, the network was accessible only to employees of CERN, but already on August 23, access to the World Wide Web was open to everyone.
