Autonomous drones Google will distribute 5G-Internet

Google still does not give rest to the issue of maximum Internet coverage of the entire globe. After a rather unusual project Loon, in which the Internet is distributed from high-altitude balloons, a group of engineers from the Google X lab switched to a completely new project codenamed Skybender. The key moment of this program will be autonomous solar-powered drones, which will distribute 5G-Internet at a speed 40 times higher than the standard LTE.

Officially, the project has not yet been announced, but published its portal The Guardian, referring to certain secret documents. According to these records, Google is currently testing solar-powered drones on the territory of the "America" spaceport in New Mexico. The signal transmission technology uses millimeter-wave radio waves at a frequency of 28 GHz. This technology has one serious drawback - this Internet can be distributed only at relatively small distances, but its speed exceeds the standard LTE by 40 times, reaching several gigabits per second. For the first time millimeter waves for data transmission were used by the military agency DARPA in 2012.

To adapt drones to the distribution of such an Internet is not an easy task, but, apparently, Google has its own ideas on this, so the engineers with the company can easily solve the problem with short distances. Distributing the Internet will be using the "optional manned aircraft" (OPA) Centaur, as well as from autonomous drones Solara 50 on solar panels, which produces the company Titan Aerospace. According to the documents, Google has the permission of the FCC commission to conduct these tests until July 2016.
