The concept of "likes" arose largely thanks to the social network Facebook. It was there that for the first time users were given the opportunity to express their admiration for someone's photo or to morally support someone's initiative by simply clicking on a small symbol that depicts a fist with a thumb raised up. But for several years, Facebook users have been harassing Mark Zuckerberg with the question: when will people be allowed to express their dissatisfaction with other people's posts?
Mark decided to publicly comment on this difficult issue during one of his speeches before the press. As it turned out, he, together with the specialists of his company, has been working for some time to create an alternative to the Like button:
"People have been asking me for a few years about the Dislike button. Today is the day when I have something to answer them. In fact, we are really working on something and have come close to the testing of this innovation. "
And as soon as enthusiastic Facebook users opened champagne, anticipating how they would "disluke" the users they hated, Mark shattered all their hopes by continuing his speech:
"We will not make the Dislike button simply because we do not want to turn Facebook into a place where people vote" FOR "or" AGAINST "something. We did not want to create such a community. Instead, we will offer users something completely different. There are times when a person needs to express empathy in relation to another person or event. Not all moments in our life are exceptionally joyful and pleasant. Agree, it is not very correct to put Like under the report of someone's death or a hurricane, which resulted in injuring thousands of people. Therefore, we are developing a system that will allow you to express your emotions in the most appropriate way for this. "
So, to hope that people will be given a "fist with a thumb down" is completely not worth it. Mark Zuckerberg is not a stupid person, so he understands what a crazy house will start if a Dislike button is inserted in his social network. Agree, the buttons for expressing empathy are not enough for the Russian social network VKontakte. For lack of such, many people put inappropriate "husky" under posts about natural disasters, other people's failures and even the death of people. From the outside it looks very inappropriate and wrong. Maybe the leadership of the VC will take Zuckerberg's idea as the basis and give something similar to our court? Time will tell.
