Apple and other IT companies want to buy a satellite Boeing

Boeing

Boeing said that major technology companies such as Apple, Google, Amazon and Facebook are interested in buying its powerful satellites. The manufacturer of aviation and space technology is hoping to conclude a deal with one of these companies by the end of the year. The result of the joint work should be the creation of a high-bandwidth communication satellite to expand Internet access around the world.

If Google and Facebook are already working on projects to provide Internet access in remote regions, it is not known what Apple is going to do with such a powerful companion. Potentially, the "apple" company can use it to offer location and navigation products and services. This alone can not be done even by Apple with its cash reserves - the construction and the output of the satellite communications to the geostationary (near-Earth) orbit is associated with huge costs.

Cellular communication operators also cooperate with space companies like Boeing, as they can afford to compensate for high costs by offering their customers new services.

Recently, Google reported on investing in a private company SpaceX Elona Mask, which plans to launch 4,000 satellites in low earth orbit in order to deliver cheap Internet. The implementation of the project with an estimated value of about $ 10 billion will take five years.

It should be noted that the creation of geostationary satellites is more expensive, but they are much more powerful and require less maintenance than satellites for low-Earth orbit.
