Kaspersky: Facebook Users - Laboratory Rats

In Europe, created a high-speed analog Tor

Анонимность в сети

Experts in the field of information security have developed a high-speed browser for anonymous use of the Internet. The team of Swiss and British developers says that they have found a way to eliminate the disadvantage suffered by Tor's popular anonymous network today - increasing the number of users reduces the overall speed of the system.

The reason for the slow speed of many anonymous networks is the multiple encryption of the transmitted data. European developers argue that the system they created, called Hornet, can theoretically transmit data at speeds up to 93 gigabits per second.

Hornet is conceptually similar to The Onion Router (Tor), which is very popular among people who want to hide their stay on the web. Tor encrypts the data, skipping them randomly through the transmission links of the network. However, increasing the number of users loads the network and slows down the overall operation of the system.

The new data processing method allowed the developers to solve this problem. In addition, they managed to minimize the vulnerability of Hornet to exposing anonymous user attacks.

It is noted that Hornet has not yet been submitted to the evaluation of experts, which is crucial for this kind of research. Only after that it will be possible to judge the completeness of the project, the developers say, to which the BBC refers, says.
