The creators of Opera released a new browser Vivaldi

Vivaldi

After the announcement of Microsoft Spartan, its Internet browser introduced a start-up under the leadership of the former head of Opera. The new product is called Vivaldi and, as its creators say, is designed for users with increased requirements for the functionality of the browser.

A new browser for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems is still being finalized, but already offers a number of functions familiar to Opera users: mouse gestures, and the widely known Speed Dial interface for displaying frames of your favorite sites.

Among other features, The Next Web resource notes the possibility of combining several tabs into one to simplify work with thematic sites, which saves space in the browser. In addition, the browser allows you to leave notes directly on the web pages, as well as take screenshots. No less opportunities for experienced users to offer functions like hot keys like Spotlight in OS X.

Vivaldi is the brainchild of former CEO and co-founder of Opera John von Techchner. In 2005, the man said that if in four days a new version of Opera 8 will load more than a million people, then he swims the Atlantic Ocean from Norway to the United States. Von Techner had to keep his promise, but, unfortunately, his attempt was unsuccessful. After leaving Opera, he founded the company Vivaldi.

When the journalists asked the co-founder of Vivaldi Tatsuki Tomita why the guys decided to release a new browser to the already crowded market, he replied:

We felt the need for a more productive browser for more demanding users. Most of the browsers on the market are similar.

On the question of how Vivaldi differs from Opera and why there is a similarity between them, Tatsuki replied:

Opera has always offered many unique advanced features, but now it has become easier. Millions of people still use the old version of Opera.

Thus, Vivaldi's initial emphasis was on some of the features Opera offered in the past, plus an additional set of features.

In addition to the Chromium engine (used in Google Chrome), Vivaldi includes modern web technologies such as React, Node.js and Node.

A new browser is available so far only in the evaluation version , but the company has big plans on it. In the coming months, Vivaldi will receive synchronization with various services, e-mail support, improved performance and extensions.

What Vivaldi will be, mostly will depend on the Internet community, because, according to its creators, the functionality of the browser will be built according to the needs of users.

As for the mobile version of Vivaldi for tablets and smartphones, it will be released on readiness. The company is now actively working on this.
