If you have ever registered an account on the website on the Internet, then most likely you have encountered the need to enter the characters in the picture into the field. This mechanism is called CAPTCHA and was created specifically to distinguish a person from a robot.
The most common captcha was created by Google, but, as reported by TheVerge, Google itself admits that its system is no longer as effective. For example, recently the experts of the “search giant” have developed an algorithm that can bypass the captcha in 99.8% of cases. In addition, modern captcha is quite inconvenient for users, and often it is necessary to enter various characters several times.
Taking all this into account, Google decided to completely revise the human and robot recognition algorithm. The new algorithm will be much easier for the user, since in order to pass the captcha he will just have to tick the box “I am not a robot”.
However, this does not mean that everything is so simple in the system. According to its own algorithms, the new captcha is able to distinguish a robot from a person by its behavior on the page. If, nevertheless, the system has suspicions about your account, it will prompt you to solve a more complex test.
In addition, Google is testing a new version of the captcha for mobile devices. For example, the user will be prompted to select an image of a cat among the pictures located on the screen.
In order for the sites to use the new captcha, Google released a special API. However, as the first tests show, the system is not yet perfect and needs some modifications.
