The management of Google Corporation is very interested in the fact that the largest providers provide their users with the most comfortable access to the Internet. Especially in order to calculate the weakest links in the chain of information transmission within the Network, even in May of this year a special service was even launched.
Google Video Quality Report allows Internet users living in the United States to test their Internet connection, as well as the download speed of HD video from YouTube. After completing the tests, all the collected information is stored in the Google database, where it is carefully analyzed and try to calculate the location of the so-called “bottleneck” - a link in the data chain, which slows down the whole process.
Since May, the program has brought its first results, and Google experts have found out which providers are using outdated equipment, due to which their users suffer. After all, each of us knows how badly a modern person’s annoying video download speeds when it is loaded in small portions, and sometimes freezes for an indefinite period of time. Now, thanks to this small research, the names of the provider companies that provide the least quality services in the Internet sphere will be published in a kind of “list of shame” on the corresponding site.
This month, the Video Quality Report program was also decided to expand to Canadian Internet users, who will also take part in identifying unscrupulous providers. In the coming months, Google plans to expand this program to other countries, which may also include Russia.
