Vic Gundotra, a man who has been working at Google for 8 years and managing the social network Google+, announced through his Google+ page that he was leaving the company. His place will be taken by vice president of Google+ technical department Dave Besbris. Announcing the resignation, Gundotra did not share his plans for the future and did not tell what he planned to do next, but the head of Google, Larry Page, wished the former colleague good luck in any future endeavors.

“Today I announce my retirement from Google, after 8 years of work in this company. I was incredibly lucky that I had the opportunity to work with such amazing people who work at Google. I doubt that anywhere else there is such a devoted and purposeful people in their business. I was fantastically flattered by Larry Page's suggestion to join the company and deal with the things that I did in the company. Starting from the Google I / O conferencing and ending with the work with mobile applications, as well as the creation of the social network Google+. None of this would have happened without Larry’s participation, so I am immensely grateful for his support and aspirations. ”

“In addition, I am indebted to the Google+ team. This group of people found the strength and stood against all that skepticism, having built one of the most popular social networks. The constant growth of its audience only once again proves that the guys are moving in the right direction. Of course, it does not describe them as humans. And people are just wonderful! They are incredible dreamers. I adore them. And I will miss them madly. ”

Gundotra’s departure from the Google+ team was very likely to be a real shock for the latter. Note that Besbris, who will replace Vick as the head of Google+, has worked in the technical department of the Google search engine development for the last few years and joined the company in 2008. Vick, in turn, joined Google in 2007, after having worked at Microsoft for 15 years.
