Microsoft does not hide the fact that it wants to bite off part of the market owned by numerous television studios. Contribute to this service will Xbox Originals.
As part of this program, the corporation from Redmond plans to broadcast on its Xbox 360 and Xbox One gaming consoles exclusive TV shows bought or filmed by Microsoft, various live broadcasts, TV shows, and so on. The company has already invested hundreds of millions of dollars in original content. In the future, the company also plans to add interactive features to some of its broadcasts, where users can make some changes to what is happening on the screen.
In addition to the already-announced Halo video game from producer Steven Spielberg, about which we learned back in May 2013, several interesting projects are under development. For example, Microsoft's internal studios are working on a remake of the Swedish television series “Real People,” which tells about the future in which robots have become part of society. Another project in the Halo universe will be directed by director Ridley Scott. A television series about street football "Every Street United" is in development, as well as a documentary film "Atari: Game Over" about the excavations of the buried Atari games of the company, which we told you about recently. The Deadlands, Extraordinary Believers, Fearless, Gun Machine, Winterworld and others were also mentioned.
"We are creating the original premium content for the Xbox community," said Nancy Tell, president of Xbox Entertainment Studios, with the press, "and we believe that Xbox Originals will change our users' perception of traditional television."
The Xbox Originals project will be launched in June 2014 and will immediately be available to all Xbox 360 and Xbox One users who have paid for their gold subscription to the Xbox Live service. In the foreseeable future, Microsoft also plans to bring this service to its Windows Phone mobile platform.
