At a time when 3G and 4G networks are developed in Russia only in large cities, and in Ukraine, the main mobile operators do not even have 3G, South Korea already plans to deploy a full-fledged next-generation 5G mobile network by 2020. According to the government, $ 1.5 billion will be allocated for the development of the new network.
Experts predict that the fifth generation mobile network will be several times faster than modern 4G LTE networks and will be able to provide bandwidth at speeds up to 800 megabytes per second. Such speeds will allow users to watch movies with Ultra HD resolution in real time.
In addition, the new network will allow free use of the Internet in high-speed trains that move at speeds up to 500 km / h. It is planned that the first testing of the network will begin in 2015, and in 2017 a pilot launch of the technology will be carried out. If everything goes according to plan, then in 2020 all work will be completed, and the network will begin to fully function. According to the Ministry of Technology and Communication of South Korea, they will be able to deploy 5G technology throughout the country.
