Attacks of hackers can be directed not only to obtain finance, important or secret documents, but also to steal a nickname on social networks. The programmer Naoki Hiroshima (Naoki Hiroshima), from whom a hacker stole the unique nickname @N in the microblogging service Twitter, has undergone such an attack.
This was told on his page by the victim Naoki himself. He declares that this is not the first attempt to hack his account, but the first one, which nevertheless failed the hacker. He also noted that not so long ago he was offered $ 50,000 for his page.
The first signs of hacking appeared on January 20, when Hiroshima received a notification of changes to his account on GoDaddy hosting, where he has important domains stored on it. In order to understand the situation, Naoki called GoDaddy, where he was asked to dictate the last digits of his credit card, to confirm his identity. However, the attacker had already changed this data.
After that, Naoki was able to contact the hacker under the nickname Social Media King, who confirmed that he had hacked the account just for the sake of receiving a unique short nickname @N.
“All your GoDaddy domains belong to me. At the moment I will not touch them, but if I make a suspicious financial transaction, they will be closed, ”the hacker wrote.
After several more attempts to return access to the hosting, which did not bring positive results, Naoki Hiroshima finally agreed to the conditions of the hacker and gave him the nickname @N in exchange for access to his domains. For the first time since 2007, he had to change the nickname to @N_is_stolen (N stolen). Hiroshima also managed to find out that the hacker found out the last digits of his credit card through the PayPal payment system.
Finally, the attacker advised Hiroshima to use more secure services in the future.
