Human stupidity still knows no bounds. Just the other day I told you that a British teenager bought a photo of an Xbox One for $ 450. But today's story, without any doubt, is much more tragic in terms of its consequences for the victims.
The American site 4chan.org, which is the world's largest image board and the source of 90 percent of all modern Internet memes and jokes, distributed an image on the Web that, allegedly, can, with the right combination of user actions, unlock its Xbox One compatibility Microsoft's previous console, the Xbox 360.
An unremarkable picture offered Xbox One owners to enter the system menu of their console, alternately quickly press the LB, RB, LT, RT keys to get to the special menu for developers. In this menu, activate the "devkit mode" (Devkit is a special version of the console that the creators of this platform provide to game developers), change the console ID to freezone.reboot, and then reboot it. EFFECTIVE REQUEST TO OUR READERS: Do not reproduce these actions if you are the owner of Xbox One! All this is nothing more than someone's cruel joke, thanks to which your console will fail.

As a result of these simple machinations, the console falls into a state of endless reboot, except that Microsoft engineers can deduce from it, and even then only with the help of special tools. And for this, the console must be sent to a specialized center for warranty repair.
The joke was a success, and already several hours later the Internet was filled with indignant cries of users who decided on a dangerous experiment. Of course, the Xbox One did not hide any backward compatibility with the previous Microsoft console. This is physically impossible, because the consoles are based on a completely different processor architecture. But after all, there are people who prefer to use their own personalized rakes for getting life experience.
Larry Hrib, a Microsoft engineer who works on Xbox software and is also known on the Web by the nickname Major Nelson, hastily posted the following warning on his twitter:

True, just what is the point now in all this, if hundreds, or even thousands of curious Xbox One users have already turned their consoles into "useless bricks"? And they should only blame themselves for this, because Microsoft did not just have the opportunity to access this hidden menu. This menu will allow novice indie developers to turn their console into a full devkit, with which they can create and publish their games in the Xbox Live Arcade store. No one at Microsoft could have imagined that some evil prankster used this opportunity to deprive the gullible people of their favorite prefix.
