North Korea attacks its enemies with computer games

Ким Чен Ын пишет очередной вирус на Бейсике

South Korean authorities are warning their citizens about a possible cyber attack from North Korea. Insidious Kim Jong-un reached the dearest that most South Koreans have - their computer games.

The National Security Agency of South Korea has registered numerous cases of infection of user computers with a new type of virus, which, apparently, was created in North Korea. Considering that in the totalitarian kingdom of Kim Jong-one, only he and several others close to him have computers, it seems very unlikely that these viruses were written by some peasants who cultivate rice all day long to benefit the leader.

The virus is distributed in a fairly straightforward way: with the help of distributions of various computer games. Given that South Korea is the world leader in the number of professional cyber-sportsmen, almost everyone here plays in one form or another.

After infecting a computer, the virus collects some personal information about the user, including its IP address, and sends it to an external server located in North Korea. Of course, the virus leaves the opportunity to remotely monitor the actions of the user. Among other things, the infected computer becomes part of the network, which can be used as a generator of DDoS attacks on various sites and services of national importance.

The authorities have warned their citizens that everyone, without exception, need to check their systems for viruses and Trojans. In case of their detection, you need to create a backup copy of important data, and then completely format the hard disk of your computer.

It would seem that only a couple of days ago, thousands of people suffered from a fake copy of a non-existent version of the GTA 5 game for PC, and North Korea’s perfidious special services have already taken this method of cyber-espionage into circulation. Be careful and carefully check the distributions of the computer games you download for viruses and Trojans. You do not want Kim Jong-un to read your mail?
