Syme - a new social network for "free-thinkers"

Syme был назван в честь одного из персонажей романа-антиутопии "1984" Джорджа Оруэлла по имени Сайм.

Against the background of recent spy scandals that have occurred lately, all kinds of information encryption services on the network are beginning to gain popularity. Protecting personal data of users requires the introduction of additional protection, and Internet companies around the world are trying to demonstrate this with varying success.

Created by three students from Canada, the new social network Syme allows you to encrypt all the content that its registered users have: posts, photos, comments and various downloaded files.

According to PC World, only the user will have access to the content, as well as those who receive special invitations from him. According to the developers, even the administration of the social network Syme will not be able to view user-generated content, except for information stored on servers, for example, when posts were posted, the size of the data transferred, and so on.

One of the founders of Syme, a Canadian student, Jonathan Hershon, said: "We want to make encryption available to those who are not hackers, geeks, or experts in the field of cryptography."

SYME

Currently, the service is free, but the creators of Syme do not exclude that some of the functions aimed at corporate use will be available for money. The social network is already available in the Google Chrome browser, and the developers promise to release versions for iOS and Android soon.

Syme was named in honor of one of the characters of the novel “1984” by George Orwell, named Syme, who was arrested for his free-thinking and subsequently executed.
