АВТОмобильный Wi-Fi

The presence of Wi-Fi wireless Internet connection does not surprise anyone today - it is found everywhere: in cafes, megastores, business centers, public transport (metro, tram, bus, train, and even a plane). However, the speed of communication and the amount of Internet traffic received when using such networks leaves much to be desired, since the number of devices connected to them is not limited and is simply “broken” by users into “micro” or even “nano” bits / bytes. Although there is always a way out. Let's say equip your car with your own Wi-Fi access point.

Needless to say about many hours of traffic jams, being in which often 3G cannot cope with such a large simultaneous load on its stations of the location where this traffic jam accumulated. But sometimes you just need to be in touch. On a good connection. Send or take something very urgent, for example. How to be ?! Of course, you can leave the car and go in search of the nearest Wi-Fi access point. But this is not an option.

So on the market there are already many companies offering a variety of technological solutions, such as car smartphones and mobile Wi-Fi routers. The latter include Yota 4G LTE, TP-LINK 3020, Car4G P-Router and even Asus WL-330N3G. And the auto giant Lexus announced the possibility of installing a pre-order Wi-Fi option, thanks to the collaboration with the Wi-Fi Alliance (WECA) - the copyright holder of the WiFi brand that certifies wireless devices - IEEE 802.11 standard. There is a reasonable question about the effectiveness of the use of such routers and quality assurance of the Internet connection.

Naturally, all the mobile routers offered to customers today work only together with the SIM-card of cellular operators, and therefore the quality of communication also depends on the choice of telecom operator. Some manufacturers of routers themselves specify the use of one or another carrier as a recommendation. Regarding cities of federal significance (Moscow and St. Petersburg), the choice of the MegaFon operator will be preferable, since it is he who provides 4G / LTE connection that is comparable in data transfer speed to a home Internet connection. But the router must be taken in this case, respectively, with 4G / LTE support. The availability of a 2G / 3G connection in the router is also useful, which will ensure connectivity even where there are no 4G / LTE networks.

The number of devices connected to the router varies from three to five depending on the manufacturer. For commercially active car owners, this may, by the way, be another source of income - distributing a password to your Wi-Fi owners or passengers of neighboring cars, who find themselves in one “traffic jam”, for example. But you need to understand that the more network users, the lower the data transfer rate. This is the disadvantage of using Wi-Fi networks in public transport.

Therefore, the data transfer rate of the router installed in the car will depend little on the driving speed and the quality of driving, but only on the quality of communication provided by the provider.
