The flights to the ISS will now take several days, not hours

nasa-russian-960

Now definitely not the best time to become an astronaut. The Federal Space Agency of Russia reported that the next manned flight to the ISS will last two days instead of the usual six hours. This is due to the fact that the station recently carried out a maneuver to evade space debris, as a result of which the parameters of its orbit changed.

The appearance of the new Soyuz rocket in March 2013 allowed Russia to reduce the time to reach the ISS from two days to six hours. Now the cosmonauts will have to fly again on a "slow" scheme. This is somewhat inconvenient, given that the cosmonauts will have to spend this time in the very tight cabin of the spacecraft. In addition, this negates all the planning work that has saved so much time since 2013.

At the moment it is not known when the flights will accelerate again (and will accelerate at all). Recall, September 2, the ISS will fly a manned spacecraft Soyuz TMA-18M with three astronauts on board.
