Font, showing what words are especially worried about the US special services

If Edward Snowden has taught us something, it's because the government always follows us, listens to us carefully and reads what we write. Nothing escapes the attention of intelligence agencies, who are constantly monitoring what citizens are doing. Nowadays social networks, personal correspondence, SMS-messages and many other ways of communication between people come under the sight. The designer from Slovenia created a font that clearly demonstrates exactly what words fall under the close attention of American special agents in the first place.

The US Department of Homeland Security has a list of 370 keywords that are constantly monitored on the network and phone conversations. The list includes, as quite obvious "tags" like al-Qaida, "North Korea", "suicide bomber", and it is incomprehensible how the words "snow" and "help" waxed there. As soon as the electronic tracking software sees the keyword, their attention immediately concentrates on the dialogue or the material found on the web.

Designer Emil Kozole developed a downloadable font "Seen", which very intelligently demonstrates how easy it is to get under the scrutiny of the American special services. Still, try to write a story or just talk with a friend, not stepping on the rake of "forbidden words." As soon as you write a word from the above list, it is immediately crossed out by a fat black line, the same as the important names and secret names in secret documents are usually overlooked.

The designer began working on his font in 2013, immediately after Edward Snowden published an unmasking NSA information. To the list of key words of the US Department of Homeland Security, Emil also added words that are monitored by the UK intelligence services, since at that time he was studying at one of the universities of London. The resulting font in Adobe OpenType format automatically recognizes these words and edits them.

Of course, this font will not protect your information from surveillance, but it is a wonderful demonstration of how difficult it is not in our time to attract the attention of intelligence and law enforcement agencies. The designer himself says that the main idea of the font is that people think about the question of why some very harmless words were included in this list. You can download the font on official website .
