YouTube service will receive support for 60 frames per second video

Сервис YouTube получит поддержку видео с частотой кадров 60 fps

Google executives have listened to their users and will soon introduce support for videos with an increased frame rate on their YouTube service.

This innovation means that the gameplay recordings of video games and fragments of modern films shot at 48 frames per second can be viewed in their original quality. Many modern camcorders and cameras also shoot videos with a frequency of 50-60 frames per second, which will also appeal to their owners, who previously scolded YouTube for greatly reducing the frame rate of the original video.

Modern video games increasingly support a frame rate of 60 frames per second, as they require tremendous speed and accuracy of players when shooting. When using the current version of the YouTube service, the frame rate is automatically reduced when the original file is recoded, which causes the image to become blurred and sharply blurred during sharp turns and movements. Increasing the frame rate will correct this flaw.

Hollywood filmmakers are gradually moving to a new technological process, in which the film is shot not in the standard 24 frames per second, but with a doubled frequency of 48 fps. The pioneer in this area was directed by Peter Jackson, who shoots the Hobbit trilogy with an increased frame rate. Initially, film critics scolded him for the fact that the image is a bit like a television picture, because it also uses an increased frame-rate in comparison with cinema, but over time the audience appreciated the innovation and now treat it positively. The next movie, shot at 48 fps, is James Cameron's Avatar 2.

If you look at two different versions of The Hobbit in two cinemas with 24 and 48 frames support, then in the first case, when you quickly move the camera relative to the characters and scenery, you will see a strong blurring of the image and its twitching, the so-called strobe effect, which feels quite uncomfortable for the viewer. In the second case, the picture is crystal clear and smooth, so this effect does not occur.

The exact launch date of the updated YouTube service has not yet been specified, and Google executives are limited to the word "soon."
